• Strength, Hope and Caring

    The Strength, Hope and Caring employee program annually recognizes Duke Medicine employees for delivering exceptional patient care. Care providers are nominated and voted on by their peers, team units, managers, and patients. Designs for this event include initial creative exploration highlighting the theme, a program brochure, multiple posters, and a large poster depicting all honorees for year-round display.

    2017 GEMS—these are the team members who always go above and beyond to help, to comfort, to make a difference. We recognize them for living our values and demonstrating the qualities of Strength, Hope, and Caring.

    2016 Celebrating the Healthcare Heroes committed to the values of teamwork, integrity, diversity, excellence and safety and our core value: caring for our patients, their loved ones and each other. We honor their abilities to fortify the human spirit with strength, hope and caring.

    2015 The Best of the City of Medicine—celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Strength, Hope and Caring Awards Gala at Duke University Hospital and Duke University Hospital’s 85th anniversary. This year’s recipients were celebrated along with the stories that are now part of Duke University Hospital’s history and the contributions to the Duke legacy of excellence.

    2010 Focusing on local traditions, customs, and culture, “In the Tradition of Excellence” was the uniting theme for this annual program. Exceptional patient care role models were recognized and their stories published illustrating that the tradition of excellence is deep-rooted at Duke.
